The Complex Operational Unit (UOC) Laboratory of Medical Genetics, a structure with university management and mixed, university and hospital staff, has been active since 1974 as a result of an agreement between the S. Camillo - Forlanini Hospital and the University of Rome. "Wisdom".
Until 1987, prof. Enrico Gandini, immunogeneticist, from 1987 to 2000 prof. Giuseppe Del Porto who, as a clinical geneticist, gave a fundamental impetus to the activity of genetic counseling and diagnostics and prevention also through the strengthening of the three laboratory sections, cytogenetics, molecular genetics and immunogenetics and, from 2000 to 2005, prof. Bruno Dallapiccola.
Since June 2005 the UOC Laboratory of Medical Genetics is directed by prof. Paola Grammatico, Full Professor of Medical Genetics at the "La Sapienza" University who has been working in the facility since 1985.
